Nicholas Rodwell, Clarinette
« After studying at RCM and NCOS I joined COE and continued to play with them during the 1980s as a member (2nd Clarinet) During that time the ‘Wind Soloists’ was established under the direction of Alexander Schneider, who proved to be an inspiring and significant musical influence on us all.
I shall always be grateful to have worked closely with Claudio Abbado, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Maurizio Pollini, Paavo Berglund to name but a few. And I feel extremely privileged to have worked with this wonderful orchestra.
After a career as principal clarinet in the LSO, RPO and ROH, it has been fun to work as a guest with the orchestra in recent years under Leonidas Kavakos and Bernard Haitink. »
