Elizabeth Wexler, Violin

Elizabeth Wexler studied at the Royal College of Music with Frances Mason, in Tel Aviv University with Felix Andrievsky and then went on to further her studies with Sandor Vegh at the Salzburg Mozarteum. During this time she was invited to take part in the founding of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe which has been central to her musical life.
She was awarded 2nd prize for the Sascha Lasserson violin competition and has been a long-term member of both the Raphael Ensemble and the Nash Ensemble.

As a chamber musician Elizabeth has appeared in concert halls and festivals throughout Europe, including the Berliner Festwochen, St Moritz, Lockenhaus, Edinburgh International Festival, Bergen International Festival and the BBC Proms. Her recordings with the Raphael Ensemble were awarded the BBC’s Critics’ Choice and Hi-Fi News and Record Review’s best recording of the year.

Elizabeth continues to perform chamber music as a guest with a number of ensembles, and plays regularly as a guest principal with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta. She has a keen interest in contemporary music and has collaborated with many leading composers of today including Oliver Knussen, Steve Reich, George Benjamin and Sally Beamish.

Elizabeth is married to the principal bass of the COE Enno Senft with whom she has three children.
